SIM is an international, interdenominational Christian mission organization. Its three founders, Walter Gowans, Rowland Bingham, and Thomas Kent established it in 1893. The initials originally stood for Soudan Interior Mission, Soudan being an older spelling of the Sudan region of East Africa. After various name changes and mergers, the mission simply goes by SIM today.

SIM has been launching workers into ministry around the world since 1893. SIM is committed to cultivating multicultural mission movements that respond to need, proclaim the gospel, and equip the Church. With more than 120 years of ministry experience, SIM’s passion is to continue to see the Body of Christ in all places, among all peoples, to the glory of God.

Currently, SIM has over 1,800 missionaries serving in 65 countries.
