Monthly Expenses

Salary – 1,846. Simply explained, this is what we live off of. This includes living expenses such as food, clothing, toiletries, utilities, fuel, cell phones, health-care deductibles, gifts, charitable giving, vacation and on-going education/conferences.

Administration – 983. This is a broad category that includes assistance to the U.S., international, and field offices. They provide missionaries with administration assistance from acquiring visas and related documents, travelling and living arrangements, gift processing, trainings, member care, and much more. We are thankful for the experienced individuals who make up the SIM admin team.

Ministry Expenses – 525. Cost associated with carrying out ministry purposes.

Travel Reserve – 250. These funds are set aside monthly so that we will be able to purchase airfare for home assignment in the US. We return home every three years for nine months of home assignment.

Micah and Tiffany’s education – 562.*  Tuition and bus. Our children have the privilege of attending Rosslyn Academy in Nairobi. During their early education they were home-schooled, but with a growing need of discipleship of femal coaches, having our children at a mission school allows Cambie to work in ministry full time.  * This is not a reflection of the full tuition. A significant portion is covered from outside our budget. 

Medical Insurance – 1425. Premiums for medical, dental, vision and medical emergency evacuation insurance. This insurance covers medical needs both on the field and at home for our entire family.

Housing Allowance – 1,012. This covers our rent, both on the field and a reserve for when we return to the US for home assignment.

Retirement – 350. SIM requires a minimum monthly contribution to a 403b retirement plan.

Kenyan tax – 300. Income taxes paid to the Kenyan government.

SECA – 571. Missionaries are required to pay SECA tax, which is similar to FICA.
